11TH WORLD ASSEMBLY, WORLD FEDERATION OF METHODIST AND UNITING CHURCH WOMEN

11-17 July, 2006
Ramada Plaza Hotel & Conference Center
Jeju Island, South Korea

World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women –
Women Making a Difference

Welcome
Dear Friends in Christ:

On behalf of the World Officers and the Executive Committee of the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women, together with the Local Arrangements Committee, I invite you to gather with us, in Korea to greet old friends and meet new ones from around the world.

Our theme: ‘World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women – Women Making A Difference’, came as the result of praying and sharing together in our Executive Committee in New York in August 2004. At the Assembly we will explore our faith through sharing Bible Study, our stories and workshops. We will have the opportunity to consider how our Christian faith impinges on the reality of living in today’s world and how we truly are Making a Difference for the good of all. We will worship and pray together and find new ways of serving Christ.

Every one of us has a story to tell. It is in the sharing and the listening and being together that we will see new facets of the One who makes a Difference in our lives and challenges us to return to our homes and continue again re- energised by being together.

The South Korean women are working hard for our arrival. This will be a unique opportunity to experience their warm hospitality and culture. Together we will renew and enlarge our global sisterhood and commitment in Christ’s mission.
Rosemary Wass
World President

Accommodation
Jeju, one of the most beautiful islands in East Asia, is located just one hour by air from Seoul. Jeju, offers beautiful rocky beaches and many blooming trees all year round. With few industries, Jeju is one of the least polluted places in Asia. The local people work in tourism, agriculture or fishing.

The Ramada Plaza Hotel located on the Sapphire Sea is modeled after a deluxe cruise ship. This unique hotel is reached in just five minutes from Jeju International Airport. All accommodation facilities are standard twin or double rooms with full bathroom facilities, fitness center and swimming pool. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included daily, as well as morning and afternoon coffee and tea during breaks. The Conference Center for meetings and sessions is an integral part of the hotel and easily accessible.

Jeju Island is home to a natural nutmeg grove on Mt. Hallasan extending over 448 thousand square meters. One of the few natural nutmeg groves in the world, it contains 2,570 trees ranging from 500 to 800 years of age. The “New Millennium Nutmeg” is the oldest of all evergreen trees on Jeju Island at 813 years old.
